BACK GROUND INFORMATION ABOUT AGAPE AIDS CONTROL PROGRAMME (AACP).
AACP is an abbreviation of Agape Aids Control Programme. Agape Aids Control Programme was established on 24th of January, 2006 as a CBO working to cover Shinyanga Region and later registered as an NGO on 24th June, 2009 by the Ministry of Community Development, Gender and Children and was issued with the Reg. 00NGO/00003233 under the NGOs Act of 2002, 12 (2) Tanzania Laws. AACP is a Non-partisan, Non-Religious and Non-profit Organization geared at promoting human rights and Community Development. AACP was established with the aim of preventing and controlling HIV/AIDS and its effects in the community. The Idea of establishing AACP started from few Members of the Organization after seeing many People of their Community Members affected by HIV/AIDS and increasing number of widows, widowers and Orphans and Vulnerable children who were seeking for assistance in the Community.
In 2009, AACP came to realize that violation of Human Rights in the Community was a Problem. Since then, AGAPE started working on four core programs which are; HIV/AIDS control and prevention, Child and Youth Protection, Legal Aid Services provision, and Prevention of Gender Based Violence, Child marriages and Early pregnancies. These core works contribute to the attaiment of our Mission which is “To empower the Community to challenge Human Rights violation by strengthening their capacity to improve their resources of Income and reduce poverty, HIV/AIDS transmission, GBV prevalence, Child abuse and advance its mitigation measures “and the Vision is “To see the Community is free from Human Rights Violation and discrimination where Orphans and Vulnerable Children, Domestic Workers, Women, Youth, PLWHAs and the Community at large live harmonious happy life and Dignity”.
Agape is managed by a Board of Governance, elected in General Assembly. The Board of Directors is composed by seven (7) Members. The Board gives direction to programs and ensures accountability and integrity to the Organization. The Director participates in the Board Meeting as Secretary of the Board. It is also the Executive Director who is entiled as the ovarall personnel for management of day to day organization operations and reports to the Board of Directors. The Director is assisted by the Programme Coordinator who ensures coordination of planning, implementation, monitoring (including project reporting) and evaluation of projects. Below the Programme coordinator we have the Finance personels (under finace department), Monitoring and Evaluation Officer (under programme department), Legal and child protection officer, Social Workers (under child protection and OVC department), Field officers (under programme department), Gender and community mobilization Officers (under Gender department). Below the programme and departmental staff we have office field based volunteers and lower them are the community based volunteers. Generally, Agape has 10 (ten) employed and paid staff, and 4 attached volunteers, with a sub-field office in Kishapu Districts at Songwa Ward been also managed by three committed and trained women volunteers on Child and women protection, prevention of gender based violence, HIV/AIDS Control and prevention as well as on Legal Aid services provision as paralegals.
 ORGANIZATION GOAL
Enhanced community especially women, youth, children and the old with capacity to access legal aid services, reduce incidence of HIV/AIDS and its impacts, income generation and abilities to prevent human rights violation in six districts in Shinyanga and Tabora Regions by 2017.
ORGANIZATION STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
Objective 1. Enhanced Rights and access to justice among women, children, and youth in Shinyanga and Tabora regions and advocated for in six districts by the end of 2017
Objective 2. Fight against HIV/AIDs, STDs, Malaria and other diseases which may be endemic by the end of 2017
Objective 3. Ensure economic and social empowerement to women and youth in the community through training, advocacy and use of economic forums by 2017.
Objective 4. Enhance preventio of behaviours, cultural issues and attitudes that perpetuate human rights violation especially to adolscent girls, children, women and youth by 2017, for example practices of early pregnancies, forced marriages, child domestic workers (child labour) and gender based violence.
Objective 5. Promote quality education to children and youth in Shinyanga and Tabora Region by the end of 2017
ORGANIZATION’S INCOME
The organization’s income are generated from the following sources
  1. Grants, donations, gifts from individuals in and out organizations, local authorities and central government
  2. Members contribution fee and charges
  3. Income derived from any undertakings by the programme and money raised in the form of learn and fundraising.
GEOGRAPHICAL COVERAGE: Agape Aids Control Programme (AACP) is legally registered to work all over the Tanzania Main Land, but at current the Organization operations are well defined in the Five Years Strategic Plan (2013-2017) which focus on two Regions which are Shinyanga and Tabora with six selected Districts, these include the following Shinyanga Municpal, Shinyanga Rural, Kishapu District, Kahama, Bukombe and Nzega. However, the Organization Head Office is in Shinyanga Municipal, Lubaga Street, Old Shinyanga Road, Opposite Simej Hotel, Plot No. 69LD and a Sub-Office in Kishapu District located at Songwa Village in Songwa Ward with three Dedicated Women Volunteers.
